The Yellow WallPaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman - 1097 Words

â€Å"The Yellow Wallpaper† is about a woman driven insane by postpartum depression and a dangerous treatment. Nevertheless, when you study the protagonist, it shows that the story is more about finding the protagonist’s identity. The protagonist’s proposes of an imaginary woman, which at first, is just her shadow against the bars of the wallpaper. The pattern shows her identity, expressing the conflict that she experiences and eventually leads her to a complete breakdown of what is her identity and that of the imaginary shadow. She’s constantly alone and not allowed to leave her bedroom, the lack of human interaction to occupy her time causes the protagonist to become delusional. Moon. He thought the company wanted him to meet certain targets by any means necessary. Mr. Carter felt management’s expectations were unrealistic and needed more input from the ground level. George Pavlov was Carter’s sales manager. He was fully aware of Carter’s actions, but did nothing to stop him. In fact, over 50% of Mr. Moon’s kickbacks were covered under his expense reimbursements. Joe Roberts, VP of Sales, was unaware of Mr. Mario and Mr. Pavlov’s actions until Mr. Moon demanded a refund for the slow moving beer. Mr. Roberts should have gone straight to Patton instead of contacting Mr.Moon. Although Joe’s intentions were to prevent any future detriment to the company, he stole a neon sign to bribe Mr. Moon. Although the three employees had very different roles in giving Mr. Moon kickbacks, Vince Patton should fire all of them. Recommended Actions To prevent this from ever happening again, Vince Patton should implement internal controls. If the plant is closed for 45 days, there will be a loss of sales, inventory could spoil, employees could begin to look for other jobs, and customers may switch suppliers.Westchester should have formal written procedures for employees to adhere by. This manual should not only state the policies and procedures to be followed, but also the consequences of not abiding by these rules. Westchester should require forms and documentation for back up and review and create a division of duties so that no one person controls the entire transaction. Currently, drivers report the number of broken bottles, but there is no way to verify accuracy of reported numbers. Management should request customers return broken bottles and sign a report verifying the number of bottles. In addition, all customer reimbursements should be processed at headquarters and paid via check. Broken bottles should be recycled, resulting in a decrease in glass and metal costs. By implementing these new policies Westchester can deter employees from overinflating expenses and increase company revenue. Employees should be bonded to make them legally negligible for their actions. Carter Mario should have been reprimanded the first time he was caught stealing. Even if it was unintentional, he should have received a written warning. In economics we learned that people are risk seeking in low probabilities of being caught.Following this logic, there should also be physical security of assets and information. Most employees have open access to point of sale merchandise. Theft can be reduced by restricting access. Lastly, he should hire an internal auditor to make sure employees are adhering to company policy and procedures. Even though it may be costly to hire an additional employee it would pay off in the long run. Conclusion It is appropriate to fire all three parties involved. Management cannot have a reputation for being lax and allow employees to go unpunished for not following company rules. It is also important to weed out the unethical employees so that they don’t influence other employees. Most likely, the California Alcoholic Beverage Control will find out regardless of how Westchester handles the situation. This is a very delicate situation, and any party involved could get upset with Westchester and report the violation. Westchester can buffer the impact on reputation by reporting the situation to the ABC, terminating the three employees, and implementing internal controls to minimize risk of this happening again.

Monster.Com Comparison Essays - Monster.com,

Monster.Com Comparison Monster.Com vs JobSluth.com There is a lot of online recruitment services available that help organizations obtain qualified applicants. I have viewed many of these in the past and the two that seem to be the most user friendly are http://monster.com and http://jobsluth.com. They are large and seem to have the largest postings of jobs. They are similar but have many differences that may make deciding which one to go to very clear. I feel that monster.com is the most convenient of the two which will be evident in the information provided. There are four advantages to monster.com that I feel are the most important characteristic of this service. The first is the convenience of sending your resume through the Internet both by using monster.com resume builder but also by using a word document file. Jobsluth only allows for you to use word documents to send your resume over the Internet. I feel the search agent is the second thing that makes these convenient. The search agents are the same except for the e-mail that is sent to retrieve the data. The e-mail that Jobsluth sends out does not have a link directly to the information the search agent retrieved and monster.com does. The third area that is important is the number of employers in the area looking at applicants on the site. That data is unknown but when a search using the same criteria was done on each site for Oklahoma the job postings on monster.com had twice the postings than jobsluth.com. I see no disadvantages to using monster.com verses using jobsluth. As an employer there is several things to look at when choosing a site. The things I could think of are cost and availability to the site and the amount of employees that are registered at the site. The cost and availability are not available information but given that the monster.com site is more convenient and easily accessible to the potential employees and allows more people to post there resume by using a resume builder it would seem to be the best choice. The last thing to cover is the pros and cons of the virtual r?sum?s. This seems to be a mute point in my opinion. The purpose of the resume is to obtain information for consideration of one person over another for a position. This is the starting point of the process. If the person lies on his or her virtual resume he or she will lie when giving a printed resume. The virtual resume allows you to get it faster and weed out those that do not qualify. It also allows you to obtain more applicants for the positions available. If there were only one online recruitment service you could use, the one I would recommend would be monster.com. Overall these services are great to use and beneficial to both the employee and the employer. This is a great recourse tool and will continue to be frequently used in the future. Dejouanys Strategy over CGE Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 1

Dejouanys Strategy over CGE - Essay Example Dejouany’s management style was not so highly decentralized that it allowed decision making at lower levels. Rather it follows the multidivisional structure, where the division of labor is created between the top managers and division managers, such that it is the division managers who focus on the operational details of the functional departments, while the top managers are able to concentrate on strategic decisions and long-range planning.(Vivendi).Dejouany selected quality people who were well versed in the developing opportunities in a particular area of business, investing cash into those cash-strapped businesses in order that the Company could benefit overall from the potentials inherent in those markets. Â  In pursuing his goals of diversification of CGE from a primarily water-based business into a diversified entity which dealt with real estate and health care among other businesses, Dejouany followed the internal capital market model of diversification. The diversification of CGI was undertaken in order to make use of the internal capital market. Since CGE was a cash-rich business, with vast cash resources accruing from its monopoly in the water business, it was able to enter into the various type of agreements with cash-strapped businesses for mutual benefit. One kind of agreement the Company entered into were agreements where it did not have to invest cash but merely managed the assets of municipalities’ water supplies.
